As a reminder, there’s a lot of fraud surrounding banking, your bank accounts, your vendor bank accounts, and customer bank accounts.
One thing I want to relay to you all now as it’s almost year-end is you could see an uptick in people asking to “change” account details and pay a new account/bank/etc. and need the change made asap. Could 100% be valid, but could also be 100% a fraudulent attempt to take your money.
If you come across this, make sure you are doing your checks/balances to validate the request. Don’t just take the email and make a change. Check the email domain, is it from your normal contact, are they being pushy, etc.?
AI has been very big in helping fraudsters take advantage of businesses.
I like to send a separate email (don’t reply to the chain) to my main contact about the request and I 100000% would CALL YOUR CONTACT and verbally verify the wire/ach/bank instructions. I prefer having them also read to me the banking updates so I can check what was sent to me.
